Teachers Health Group has announced a range of improvements to Extras benefits that will take effect from 1 April.
Teachers Health Group is comprised of Teachers Health, Nurses & Midwives Health and UniHealth.
The company has announced the new benefit will include psychology services on an entry-level cover. It said the announcement is one of a range of support measures implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic.
These measures include deferring this year's approved 1 April premium increase to 1 October, deferring a previous premium increase, the roll-over of unused 2021 Extras annual limits, the adoption of permanent telehealth benefits for a range of services, cover for COVID-19 hospital admissions and other relief for financial hardship.
“COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of mental health support, which is why we’ve improved psychology benefits on all our Extras covers,” said Teachers Health Group CEO Brad Joyce.
“Recognising the importance of preventative measures to support long-term mental health, we’ve also incorporated a new psychology benefit to our StarterPak cover which has traditionally been a popular cover choice for those aged under 35 years.
“As a not-for-profit, we’re committed to listening and responding to the changing health requirements of our members and our Extras benefits improvements are a direct response to their feedback. We’ve improved benefits on the services our members have told us they need the most - including podiatry, permanent telehealth benefits for a range of services and expanding our optical provider network.”
