St.LukesHealth to pay benefits for rapid antigen tests

Tasmanian-based private health insurer St.LukesHealth has introduced a one-off benefit for its members who purchase rapid antigen test kits.

St.LukesHealth CEO Paul Lupo said a maximum benefit of $20 per policy would be available for claiming over the course of the next 12 months through to the end of December 2022.

“Claiming the benefit is easy and will not reduce any existing benefits on members’ current policies,” said Mr Lupo.

“While rapid antigen tests are not as accurate as standard PCR tests, they deliver results faster and can screen for infections if used regularly.”

If every eligible member claims, St.LukesHealth said it will pay out around $700,000 in RAT rebates.

“We hope this goes some way to help our members, and the community, to stay safe and in good health,” said Mr Lupo.

Mr Lupo acknowledged many stockists are currently having difficulty meeting the demand for rapid antigen tests. He said he expects supplies to improve as stocks increase.
