Prime minister Malcolm Turnbull is expected to shortly announce current secretary of the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, Glenys Beauchamp PSM, will succeed Martin Bowles PSM at the Department of Health.
Ms Beauchamp has led the industry and innovation department since September 2013, having previously led the Department of Regional Australia, Local Government, Arts and Sport from 2010.
She also served as a Deputy Secretary in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (2009-2010)
Ms Beauchamp worked with health minister Greg Hunt during his six-month stint in the industry and innovation, before his move to the health portfolio in January this year, and their constructive relationship is considered a key factor in her pending appointment.
