Medibank's ahm has launched a car and home insurance product building on its health, travel and life insurance options.

The company said the new car and home product, which is underwritten by Hollard, offers a simple and affordable range designed to give customers greater flexibility and control of their cover. It said its health insurance customers get up to 15 per cent off car and up to 30 per cent off combined home and contents insurance policies.

According to ahm senior executive Rob Deeming, “We know with the shifting landscape around us, that price and delivering value will now, more than ever, be a significant driver in people’s decision to switch providers or take out insurance.

“This current COVID environment gives our car and home insurance products greater appeal to those requiring the flexibility to tailor policies to suit their changing needs, all at a really competitive price point.”

Mr Deeming said the COVID-19 pandemic has meant changes for all Australians.“If you’re working from home and using your car less, you should be spending less on your insurance,” he said.

“We have a fixed kilometre plan that could save lighter driving customers up to 30% compared to our regular comprehensive car insurance.

“Similarly, whether you’re an owner or a renter, after prolonged periods in the home you’ve no doubt got a newfound appreciation for all the weird and wonderful items filling your house.

“ahm research has found that the most popular additions to Australian homes during COVID has been new furniture and televisions while homeowners have also made the most of being home by painting and redoing their gardens.”

“With ahm home and contents insurance we’re giving customers the peace of mind that they can bounce back from the unexpected. And in staying true to our brand promise of simplicity, we’ll make claims as straight forward and seamless as possible for our customers.

“This market-leading service means claims are processed online 24/7 and some decisions are provided in only minutes. So, it will save time and get you back on the road or in the home quicker,” added Mr Deeming.
