Medibank has confirmed that it has received a letter from Bannister Law which states that it now intends to lodge a representative complaint against the company with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Medibank, which recently confirmed a complaint from Maurice Blackburn, said it is considering Bannister Law’s letter and intends to respond as requested.
"Medibank is not aware of such a complaint having yet been lodged with the OAIC and has not been contacted by the OAIC in relation to the complaint," it said.
"Medibank continues to support its customers from the impact of this crime through our previously announced Cyber Response Support Program which includes mental health and wellbeing support, identity protection and financial hardship measures.
"As previously announced, Medibank will continue to cooperate with the OAIC and its ongoing investigation," added the company.
