Medibank has launched a Paediatric Concierge service to provide pre and post-operative support for parents of children undergoing hospital treatment.
The service will provide emotional, clinical and practical support to help customers actively manage their health needs.
Medibank senior executive member health Dr Catherine Keating said having a child admitted to hospital can be a stressful time for both parents, carers and the child, but having the right support in preparation for a hospital admission can significantly lower any anxiety.
“Medibank is expanding our Health Concierge service to paediatric admissions as research shows that children who have better support and are appropriately prepared to go to hospital have lower levels of pre-operative anxiety and a better recovery,” said Dr Keating.
Medibank said the Paediatric Concierge service will be available to all customers with appropriate hospital cover and provides information from trusted and reliable sources, including questions to ask the hospital and your specialist team.
The Concierge Clinicians will also help parents navigate arrangements for work and family, understand their health insurance, and even provide a packing checklist for what to take to hospital.
"The Paediatric Concierge service provides information and guidance on how to care for your children after a hospital stay, including advice on pain management, things to look out for, access to 24/7 Medibank Nurse, and tips on how to entertain the child while they’re recuperating, as well as keeping them in touch with friends and school.
“We are proud to introduce paediatric support to Medibank’s Concierge service, adding value to our customers health cover, where we can act as a trusted health advisor by supporting parents and carers of children heading to hospital,” added Dr Keating.
