Greg Hunt loses senior adviser in pre-election move to prime minister's office

A new ministerial adviser coming for health minister Greg Hunt with the promotion of a key senior staffer to the prime minister's office.

Senior adviser Sam Develin has joined the prime minister's office in a senior role focused on social and health policy.

Mr Develin served as an adviser to Minister Hunt for four years with responsibility for pharmaceutical and private health insurance policy.

He has played a major role in supporting the pandemic response, the development of budgets as well as the negotiation of major agreements with industry groups and the current move to reform the framework for the private funding of medical devices.

Mr Develin is highly regarded and respected by stakeholders.

He joined Minister Hunt's office having previously served in policy roles for GSK and Medicines Australia.
