Defence Health says its employees are "feeling justifiably proud" of their workplace culture and performance after its recognition as an 'Employer of Choice in the 2020 Australian Business Awards' for the third year running.

The awards celebrate organisations that maximise the potential of their workforce through effective recruitment, engagement, training and retention.

Defence Health CEO, Gerard Fogarty, said, “The leadership team and I feel extremely proud to accept this award again.

“There is nothing accidental about being named Employer of Choice three years in a row. This is the great achievement of a goal we work towards every day,” he said.

Mr Fogarty continued, “In fact, our strategy of continuous improvement involves constant monitoring and adjustment of our settings to achieve the ideal outcome for the business and our staff. To be recognised again acknowledges our sustained performance against industry best practice.

“We know that our inclusive, engaged and vibrant culture delivers exceptional customer service and high performance. By creating a workplace that thrives on our values and a strong connection to our purpose, we also attract and retain employees who take great satisfaction and reward from the work they do.”

The award is assessed based on a structured model that benchmarks organisations against performance standards.
“It has been a particularly challenging year with most of our workforce working remotely from home due to the COVID-19 restrictions. But the team at Defence Health has not missed a beat,” said Mr Fogarty.

“I’m very proud of the resilience and agility they’ve demonstrated. Ultimately, it’s an award that recognises the motivation and commitment of every single person in the business. Congratulations team!”
