Changes for health in reshuffle

Michaela Cash is the new innovation minister, formally succeeding Senator Arthur Sinodinos, while health is back to having a second minister in cabinet.

Ms Cash, who has been acting in the portfolio, will take on a new expanded role in cabinet as jobs and innovation minister.

Senator Sinodinos, who has been on extended leave battling an illness, asked not to be considered for the ministry.

Michael Keenan is the new human services minister, succeeding Alan Tudge. Mr Keenan is also minister assisting the prime minister in digital transformations.

Greg Hunt remains health minister but the sport portfolio has gone to new cabinet minister Bridget McKenzie, who also has responsibility for rural health and regional communications - the health portfolio is back to effectively having two cabinet ministers.

Ken Wyatt has retained aged care and indigenous health but David Gillespie has been moved and is now assistant minister for children and families. 

Senator Zed Seselja is the new assistant minister for science, jobs and innovation.
