B. Braun Australia has acquired five renal care centres operated by Diaverum in Australia and New Zealand.

German-based B. Braun is one of the world’s largest medical technology companies. In the Asia Pacific region, it operates 80 renal care centres treating more than 6,450 patients. Globally almost 30,000 patients are treated in B. Braun renal care centres.

Four of the renal care centres are based in Australia, in North Melbourne, Greensborough, Toowoomba and Lindfield, and one in New Zealand.

Almost 25,000 Australians and 4,700 New Zealanders are living with end-stage renal disease.

“Diaverum has been privileged to provide renal services in Australia for more than 20 years and, more recently, in New Zealand. In line with our current strategy, we are consolidating our operations and venturing into new markets. We are pleased to transfer the ownership of our dialysis centres to B. Braun, a pioneering provider of dialysis technology,” said Boris Zjacic, senior vice president and head of area central east.

Mr Manogaran Ayalsamy, managing director of B. Braun Australia and New Zealand and B. Braun Avitum Australia and New Zealand, said: “We are proud to have the opportunity to share our expertise in dialysis therapy through this acquisition. We look forward to providing services of the highest quality and safety standards to serve our patients in Australia and New Zealand.”
